CTA/CRFM/CNFO Consultation to formulate Small-scale Fisheries Governance Arrangements for the Caribbean

Across the Caribbean, the fisheries sector employs over 182,000 persons, directly or indirectly. Whereas commercial fisheries play a key role in helping to secure foreign exchange earnings in the region, small-scale fisheries is far more dominant in supplying badly needed jobs, as well as ensuring food security and good nutrition across states.

It is therefore fitting that keen attention is paid to the governance of small-scale fisheries. In this vein, a cross-regional consultation is to be held at Grand Coastal Hotel in East Coast Demerara, Georgetown, Guyana, from Monday, February 25 to Thursday, February 28, 2013.
