Introduction to CRFM Secretariat Publications

Over the years, the Caribbean Regional Fisheries Mechanism (CRFM) Secretariat has produced numerous publications under its various projects. CRFM Secretariat regards documentation of outputs as an important component of a sustainable fisheries management mechanism. Documentation is further seen as an important means of promoting communication between individuals and organizations involved in fisheries, and creating/adding value through the generation of information products.

Five (5) different types of publications are produced:

Document Type	Purpose Description
CRFM Fishery Reports	to communicate the proceedings of major workshops and substantive review and research activities which are of regional significance and of interest to an international audience. could also include reports of consultants employed by the CRFM Secretariat, and the results of research projects conducted in the region by the CRFM Secretariat or by other organizations. is the vehicle through which the CRFM Secretariat will contribute to the international fishery literature.
CRFM Fishery Research Documents	contain preliminary information, compilations of data which are not suitable for publication in the primary literature or the Fishery Report Series, and routine calculations and analyses. These documents could also contain summaries of data on fish catches, prices, fishing effort, and structure of the fishing industries in Member States. This type of documentation invaluable in conducting retrospective analyses of the basis for past fishery management decisions.
CRFM Fishery Advisory Documents	provide sufficient detail that a reader may assess the rationale for the advice, particularly where various social and economic factors may cause the advice to differ from that in the Research Document. Fishery management institutions have found this type of documentation invaluable in conducting retrospective analyses of the basis for past fishery management decisions.
CRFM Special Fishery Publications	miscellaneous publications such as popular and educational pamphlets, brochures, leaflets, and posters.
CRFM News (Newsletter)	quarterly newsletter which provides agencies and individuals involved and interested in the Regional fisheries sector with information on key developments within the sector as well as information on the activities of the CRFM Secretariat.

CRFM Secretariat Staff have worked in collaboration with Fisheries Divisions/Departments staff to produce a series of papers and other miscellaneous publications, not included under any of the aforementioned set of document series.

This document will provide a listing of all documents and publications produced by or in collaboration with CRFM Secretariat.
